Is sourcing goods direct from the manufacturer the cost reduction dream it first appears? In this Comment article David Armes explains the potential benefits but also the pitfalls that retailers should watch out for.
In this research-led White Paper, David Armes examines how companies may fail when implementing a long-term savings plan, and suggests ways that managers can keep driving change forward.
Laura began her career in the Beauty industry, working across a range of product and brand development roles. More recently she managed key supplier and client relationships for a leading corporate events business, before joining Ivo early in 2016. Educated at the University of the West of England with a BSc in Psychology, Laura spends her free time exploring London’s culinary scene. When she isn’t planning her next meal (and to balance out the indulgences), Laura finds time to practice Pilates!
Sarah joined Ivo in 2013 after four successful years as a Science Communicator, working on multiple media broadcasting platforms in the UK and abroad. She has a degree in Natural Sciences from The University of Cambridge and her key strengths lie in communication, research, and project and client relationship management.
“The best thing for me about joining Ivo has been the chance to get to know a whole new industry and learn from experienced and supportive colleagues, while being able to apply the aspects of my previous job that I enjoyed most – the problem solving, communication, and interaction with people. Joining a boutique firm meant diving straight in at the deep end with a major UK retailer in my first week, which was an exciting challenge, and really pushed me to learn fast and take on responsibility.”
Before joining Ivo in 2003, Graham started his career in research and training at the Institute of Grocery Distribution, moving on to hold several senior commercial roles with Tesco. He has a BSc in Agricultural Economics from Newcastle University, an MBA from the University of Cambridge, and training in negotiation from Harvard University. Outside work, he likes to spend time exploring the Oxfordshire countryside with his family and indulge his skill for wooden boatbuilding.
Previously holding a range of buying, marketing and own brand development roles at Boots UK, Stuart has expertise in heading up procurement, category management, and commercial insight projects. He holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge and has training in negotiation and leadership from Harvard University. Stuart lives with his young family in Guildford and is a keen cyclist, having completed amateur stages of the Tour of Flanders and the Tour de France.
Before founding Ivo Consulting Solutions in 2003, David held senior strategy, commercial and supply chain roles at Mars, Pepsi, Guinness and Tesco. Educated in Engineering at Imperial College London, David went on to study for his MBA at the University of Cambridge. When not working with clients, he spends time at home, managing the demands of a dog, wife, three children and the need to keep his waistline in check.
